10 Most Aggressive Dogs in the World

All dogs can bite. This is a fact. However, some dogs are more likely to do so than others. This may come as a surprise to you but the most aggressive breeds of dogs are not necessarily the ones considerated the most potentially dangerous. Actually, dangerous dogs are less aggressive than many other breeds that are among the most popular pets all over the world. Here is my top of the 10 most aggressive dogs  in the world:

1. The Dachshund

1. Dachshund
Surprise! This little dog has been named the most  aggressive breed in the world, according to a recent study. Even though it can’t actually do real harm to a human- how hard could it bite after all?- the little monster is known as a strangers hater and it seems that one in five dachshunds have bitten strangers in their lives and even worse, one in twelve have attacked their own masters.

2. The Chihuahua

2. Chihuahua
Coming close is another breed that you can’t even take in serious. When it comes to aggressiveness, however, there are few dogs that can beat it! In fact, you are much more likely to be bitten by a Chihuahua than by a Doberman! I am not surprised by this one though my neighbor has a Chihuahua which snaps me every time we meet; and it hurts too!

3. The Jack Russell terrier

3. jack russell
These little breeds seem to compensate with aggressiveness for their small size, as the third in the list of the most aggressive dogs in the world is yet another toy dog, rather than a pit bull or a bulldog. The Jack Russell terrier is…a terrier and that says it all: terriers in general do not tolerate abuse and will fight back. So, watch out for children who might get bitten really fast.

4. The Giant Schnauzer

Not only is the giant Schnauzer aggressive (especially to other dogs, but to strangers as well), but it is a large dog too, so that makes it twice as dangerous as any of the breeds mentioned above! What’s more, this breed is also hard to train, thus, to control. Because of this trait, of their large size and of their loud, scary bark, they make great guard dogs.

5 The Rottweiler

5. rotweiler
One of the most popular dog breeds in the world, the Rottweiler is truly an awesome dog. I will not enumerate all its qualities here-this is not the purpose of this article- though I would, because it has many qualities people don’t know about.  However, the Rottweiler might become aggressive to other dogs and when you own such a powerful dog, this aspect becomes important.  What’s more, the Rottweiler is very protective and this may result in aggressiveness towards strangers, if the dog feels that his owner is in danger.

6. The Chow Chow

6. chow chow
The Chow Chow looks lovable and sweet. It is not quite so, though. Adult Chow Chows are not dogs to be trusted, especially when it comes to children and strangers: they are very irritable and they prove food aggressiveness. Also, they are very protective and will not let anyone get close to their owners and their homes. You may be surprised to see it on this list but the truth is that the Chow Chow is one of the most aggressive breeds of dogs in the world.

7. The Pit Bull

7. pitbull
While Pit Bull owners and fans often advocate for their lovable nature, gentleness and friendly behavior (and I cannot argue with that, as I have been around Pit Bulls quite a while and i am aware of these qualities), nobody can deny that it has aggressive instincts. Though it can be raised as a family dog and may never show this characteristic, the Pit Bull may become very aggressive, especially towards other dogs, but also towards strangers. Though it is said that this breed can tell friend from foe, you might want to watch it for any sign of aggressiveness, which must be corrected as soon as possible. In general, they consider smaller animals (cats or rabbits ) as prey so you should be careful about this aspect as well. If you are an experienced dog owner and you are determined to raise this dog as a family pet, you will have a nice surprise.

8. The Papillon

papillon
The dog with such a fancy dog and such a stylish aspect is actually quite a biter!  Papillons are especially aggressive towards children because they get irritated really fast and will not tolerate any abuse.  Also, they are quite possessive and very protective of their owners, which may result in attacking strangers.

9. The Cocker Spaniel

Cocker Spaniel
To be fair, this is one of the most beloved family pets and they are full of qualities. They may be a little protective, but not that much to call them aggressive. What made them break top 10 on this list is actually a genetic disorder: some Cocker Spaniels develop the “rage syndrome”. This disease is very dangerous and it  causes the dog to attack  its own family members, children and adults alike. If a Spaniel develops this disorder, there is nothing to be done for it and must be put down, unfortunately.

10. The Doberman Pinscher

10 doberman
The Doberman has an undeserved bad reputation but lately, this negative image is fading because of the fact that many people are raising this dog as a family pet, so its traditional role of a guard dog is diminishing.  However, it is not for nothing that they were used as guard dogs for so much time.  They are very protective of their owners, though they instinctively know when their owner is in danger and do not attack randomly (as a Chihuahua might). Dobermans may be aggressive to other dogs, or unfriendly strangers so you might want to watch them very carefully.
